Quo Vadis - The Australian Status Quo Tribute Show   Home

Roy Alan Lynes

Born: 25th November, 1943
From: Redhill, England.
Now Lives: Brisbane, Queensland.
Personal: Married to Wendy, two children.
Plays: Keyboards, guitar, vocals, songwriting.

Through his years with Status Quo, and their brief spell as the Traffic Jam before finally evolving into Status Quo, Roy's keyboard sound made a significant contribution to much of the music that they recorded. He played on the early albums and holds the co-composer credit for the track Umleitung (a song he and Alan Lancaster had written together in 1970), which Quo had recorded and included on their Dog Of Two Head album in 1971.
(adapted from David Oxley's book 'Rockers Rollin' - The Story Of Status Quo)

These days, if Roy is not performing with Quo Vadis, he plays the guitar in the group 'The Quotations' (aptly named but the trio does not perform any Status Quo songs). Roy is an enthusiastic musician and to hear him play and sing 'Pictures Of Matchstick Men' puts the audience right back to the start of Quo's career. He is eager to share his knowledge of Quo with all the band members and plans to record with Quo Vadis some unreleased songs he wrote during his time with Status Quo.
